If you know what article marketing is, then you know your article resource box is the place to make money. The catch is that you only have a small amount of space in which to entice the reader into further action. You must also abide by the submission guidelines of the article directory where you are submitting your article as you entice readers into action. There’s more than one easy money making idea to be taken advantage of with your article resource box.

One super easy money making idea that many people just flat overlook is making sure the links in your article resource box are correct. Although it seems to be a bit too simplistic in nature to even be addressed, just imagine how much traffic could bypass your site if you accidentally fat-fingered your web address as you typed and didn’t catch the mistake. Every reader that is interested in your website or product finds themselves unable to get more information because of an invalid link. Lost visitors equal lost revenue.

Another easy money making idea is to link your articles to the newsletter subscription page on your website. Newsletter sign-ups are a great way to interact with with your readers on a regular basis. This will also build an e-mail list for potential sales at a later date.

If you have a freebie that you can give to your readers, then you might want to include the download link in your article resource box. Free reports can build credibility with readers and website visitors alike, but only if the information is truly useful and relates to your niche article. This is an easy money making idea in that it will build a more trusting relationship with your readers and they will be more likely to be repeat visitors and repeat customers.

Build the SEO strength of your website with anchor text URLs. Use the keywords of your website as the highlighted links in your article resource box. Use this easy money making idea with care. Overdone, it will put your readers off and have the opposite effect that you intended.

Your article resource box can be an excellent source of revenue. Article Marketing is an easy money making idea that is fun and doesn’t cost you a dime to get started.

I’ve been exploring doing some article marketing. To read some of the gurus it is just the easiest thing in the world to write a few articles and fire them up to the article directories. Gets you lots of links from those directories and any sites that use the articles will be giving you links. Sounds like a lazy person’s ride to riches.

I happened across a free resource the other day which put a dose of reality into the glowing reports. You see a graphic on the right linking you there so you can get your own copy. It’s called “10 Article Killers” and is the what not to do counter to the gurus that make it sounds like easy street.

In this concise 12 page report the writer, Chris Crompton, lays out the 10 main ways that you will work against yourself in doing article marketing. In brief:

Only submitting to the top three directories

Submitting the exact same article to multiple directories

Writing articles that are too short

Not utilizing the maximum links you can in your author box

Focusing on links instead of natural traffic

Failure to do keyword research first

Focus your links on your homepage

Using the same keyword phrase in all your links

Lack of consistency

Not contacting publishers directly

Chris explains what the problem is and what steps you need to take to avoid making the mistake. If you’re thinking about or are doing article marketing, you don’t want to NOT have this free report. Twelve pages don’t take long to read and will likely have you rereading repeatedly.

Araon Wall over at SEO Book has written an excellent piece on writing content, he examines optimal word count, length and the considerations for search engine optimization. I especially like his comments about writing tightly. Actually, he uses the phrase, omit words. It means if you can effectively say something with three words, don’t use ten.

I’ve read some interesting articles on content writing. I find it interesting that few if any mention that you really need to take enough care to spell and use words correctly. I have never passed a grammar class in my life but it doesn’t take much to recognize a poorly structured sentence. I can tolerate the odd spelling mistake, especially if they appear to be more of a typo than a real mistake. One thing that is just like nails on a chalkboard when I’m reading is the misuse of words.

“Their, they’re and there’ has to be one of the most frequent errors I see along with ‘two, too, to’. Don’t be a lazy writer. You’ve got something to say, take the time to spell and use the right form of your words. Nothing will diminish my reading experience faster than to have to mentally start editing the piece so I can understand what the writer is saying.

If you aren’t sure about the useage, pick up a style book from your local bookstore. It will become an invaluable resource.

One of the advantages I really enjoy about writing a blog is that I can write like I was having a conversation with you, the visitor. Well, there is a difference or two, for one I can retract sentences before I publish them where I can’t take back words I’ve said.
