Well, it almost hardly seems like a few months since I posted that the hiatus was over for this blog. We’re just starting the second month of 2009 and I’m starting it off with the relaunch of It’s All About Money. The site has been completely redone.

My primary goal for 2009 is to take the action I need to take in order to establish and maintain a living online. It is my goal that by the end of the year, at minimum, my basic living expenses will be earned online.

In order to reach that goal, I not only need to take action but I need to be constantly learning what is happening online and how to build my business. It is my intent to share what I learn on this site.

This is the third of several sites I’m revitalizing and will be posting content to regularly. If you want to see where I’m posting, you can always follow Patti Network News where I aggregate my postings from all my sites.

Relaunching With New Look

As you may have noticed, posting on It’s All About Money has been rather sporadic the last few months. That is about to change, but not today. Today is a holiday in Canada and the US – Labour Day. Today is also my birthday, how appropriate for 50 years ago today, my mother was in labour. I know, not the kind being celebrated today.

I usually ignore birthdays but family, friends and people who know me are wanting to mark what is considered to be a milestone age with me today. No, I don’t suffer from middle age angst. Ageing is a state of mind even when the body is working every day toward wearing itself out… in oh… another 50 years (yeah right LOL)

So, in a bit, I’ll be heading out to pick up one friend from the retirement home she’s taken up residence in. We’ll join another friend, who has to head to work later on today, for lunch Casey’s. Then I’ll head back to the local Legion for 2pm where others will be gathering cause “the Prez turns 50 today”.

End of Hiatus – Happy Labour Day

While I’ve not been posting a lot of articles lately, I have been doing some work on the blog. Sort of feel like the little church mouse that moves around the site but doesn’t show up a lot. If you take a look at the Pages list you’ll see a couple of them starting with RES: and then a topic. These are the resource pages which contain links to sites which you may find helpful.

I could do a search on one or two search engines and come up with a bigger list but then there would likely be a lot of lame ones. I am working on locating resources of value which will save you searching for them. If you happen to have something to add to the list. Drop me a note and let me know.

I am currently working on a list of affiliate networks and the social networking sites. A new free download will be available shortly for those joining my list. I periodically send out a mailing with information I think you might find of value. I don’t send out every offer going. I get sick of receiving them and I suspect you do as well. As I’ve said before, I’m not in the market to make money in online marketing but I am in the market to make money in other niches.

Resource Pages Added

One of the things I love about WordPress is that ability to not only post blog entries but to create pages which become part of the main menu on the site. As I’ve explored this online marketing arena I’ve come across a range of resources that you may find helpful.

Over the next several weeks I plan on creating several pages for those resources and updating them as I come across additional resources. If you come across a resource that will fit on any of those pages then feel free to use the contact form to let me know about them. I’ll review them and then decide if they fit.

Resource Pages

Well, another year has ended and time to move into the next. I would say that my biggest error in 2006 was deciding to get serious about online marketing and establishing my income online and then not engaging in creating any plans. So, the first part of this month is going to be on brainstorming some plans for the coming year.

I know I definitely need to have traffic built to my site and to do that I need to have regular quality content. I have started, more by luck than good management, a mailing list which needs to grow this year and again needs to receive good quality content on a regular schedule.

I definitely wont be one of those marketers who send out emails for every launch going in an effort to get my subscribers to spend their money to my benefit. I get them from certain marketers and as I identify the offenders, my unsubscribe choice gets made. Some send of mix of sales emails and worthwhile information, those ones I continue to subscribe to.

One thing I have learned is that I can use Adsense as a source of income but unless I want to run around creating sites just for Adsense, it will not be my primary income. Adsense is only viable when there is a good stream of traffic to a website.

I’m going to be setting up some resource pages which I hope will be helpful to others and make this site worthwhile to visit over and over again. I’ll also be regularly adding content articles. I’ve a ton of ebooks and articles sitting on my harddrive. A good number of them have never been read.

My plan is to read and make notes on them and then provide you with articles. Some of them will likely result in my promoting the product for you to buy. I did say I was in business, right? So, I will be doing some selling but only of items I really feel can benefit you if you too buy them, read them and implement them.

Time to Clear the Slate

If you’ve been by this blog before, you’ll notice that there has been some tidying up. Nothing really major other than the masthead has changed. The original sent some mixed messages about what the blog is about. I think this one is a bit more straightforward which is what I usually try to be.

The links have been cleaned up as well, there are more to come especially to resources which I am using to help me get my business up and running. This blog tends to be the testing ground for what I want to do with my other sites as I set them up.

Some of the ads have been removed, they are not in tune with the subject of the blog which is getting an online business established. While this blog to some extent is about online marketing, it is not actually where I’m heading in an online business. Fact is, in order to establish ANY business online you need to know something about online marketing.

What you don’t need to be doing is chasing the dollars in an over saturated market like online marketing when there are hundreds if not thousands of other niches are out there with people willing to spend dollars.

I’ve been bookmarking some of what I consider to be my better posts to the social bookmarking networks. One thing I’ve discovered is that when I post (bookmark) a post with the ampersand (&) in the title, the title doesn’t transfer properly to the bookmark. For instance the other day I titled a post “Adsense & Traffic Exchanges”. When I bookmarked it, the title showed up as “Adsense” everything after the ‘&’ disappeared. So, I’ll be adjusting titles to remove the ampersands.

I’ve not been posting as frequently as I’d like, only so many hours in the day. So, I’m going to be posting some guest columns a bit more frequently. They are going to be selected based on how I trust the authors for the most part. Occasionally, because they have content I think is relevant for someone trying to setup an online business, I use authors I’m not really familiar with.
