Who’d want to be helped by horrible SELFISH people???? Well ME actually…………….and YOU! Okay, what AM I going on about? Well, it’s like this. If you can begin to understand how people think, you can start to use that knowledge to make YOUR offer more appealing to them, whether your offer is a personal one (dating), a professional one (legal) or a business one (making money).
You want people, your prospects, to take ACTION, to say “yes” to a date, or to hire your lawyers or to click your affiliate links on your website. That’s not asking much is it!
YES, actually I’m afraid it is. You see, people want an EASY life; they don’t want to put forth effort. That’s why people like YOU, who DO take action all the time, EVERY day, to move toward your goals, WILL be successful.
People like this are very rare. Most people will NOT take action. They’ll watch TV, they’ll read a magazine, they’ll chat with friends, they MIGHT take a vacation overseas one day, but most people will do NOTHING to improve their lives.
But surely that’s the government’s responsibility, isn’t it? No, I’m afraid it’s not. As YOU know, your life is your responsibility. Any country’s Government should be there to protect you from OTHER people (foreign and domestic), nothing else. They’re job is NOT to protect you from yourself or your own lack of ability or your own lack of motivation to improve your life.
So, if it’s about motivation then what MOTIVATES people to take action? Money? Yes, that’s ONE motivator, but it’s not really significant, because money in and of itself is nothing. It MAY be paper, but mostly it’s not even that. Nowadays it’s just digits on a computer. It’s what money can DO for people that makes money important.
So what CAN money do for you, apart from get you Sports Cars and Mansions and clothes and yachts? Well, the very fact that things like this are created tells us a lot. Fast cars and big houses aren’t what people NEED at all; these are things that people WANT. A $20,000 car will get you to a place just as well as a $200,000 car (maybe even better judging by the size of a Corvette’s trunk!).
What then, DO people want? Let’s cut to the chase. People REALLY want:
1. Recognition (i.e. respect).
2. Influence (i.e. power).
3. Security (i.e. safety).
These things make people FEEL GOOD. They make them feel good about THEMSELVES.
Though different people are motivated (to take ACTION) by these three things, they are motivated to different degrees by each of them. Some want power more than security. Some want security more than respect. Whatever it is, if you appeal to ALL THREE of these, you’ll DEFINITELY be able to motivate them.
Demonstrate to people how dealing with you will bring one or more of these things to them. Show them what a GREAT DEAL you are offering them. And, more importantly, show them what they will miss out on if they DON’T take action and deal with you.
People care about THEMSELVES first and foremost, no matter what they may tell you, or indeed, what they may honestly believe about themselves. This isn’t a mean thing to say about people, nor is it cynical. These are facts that have been proven thousands of times in hundreds of experiments. It’s not about being a bad person, it’s simply human nature.
